What Naukri is
Naukri is a private Indian job site and resume database at naukri.com. Employers and recruiting agencies pay to search profiles and to post jobs. You can create a free account, upload a resume, and apply. A complete profile makes you easier to find. It does not promise that a recruiter will call. Paid add-ons on Naukri are optional. Paying does not buy a job. InfoparkDaily is not affiliated with Naukri.
Create the account
- Open naukri.com registration.
- Use your name as it appears on the resume, a phone number you answer, and an email you check.
- Set a password you do not reuse on other sites. Recruiters will not ask you for this password. Anyone who asks is not a recruiter.
- Choose the experience level honestly. A fresher account with a fake “2 years” gets caught in the first call.
- Confirm the email or OTP the site sends. An unfinished registration is invisible in search.
Build the profile so a search can find you
Naukri search is mostly keywords, city, experience, and how recently the profile was updated. Fill these fields with words that match the roles you want.
- Resume headline. Same idea as a LinkedIn headline. “Manual tester · Kochi · API testing with Postman” beats “Looking for a good opportunity in a reputed company”.
- Key skills. Add the tools you can use. Put the most relevant first. Do not add twenty skills you saw in someone else’s profile.
- Employment. Company, designation, dates, and three bullets. Notice period is a real field. If you are serving notice, say the last working day you can actually meet. “Immediate joiner” when you need 60 days wastes everyone’s time.
- Education. Degree, college, and year. Add the score if you want. Do not invent a university.
- Projects and internships. Freshers should spend their time here. Name the stack and what the project does.
- Current location and preferred location. Kochi candidates should say Kochi or Ernakulam, and add Trivandrum or Kozhikode only if you will relocate. Preferred location is how a Kochi recruiter filters.
- Resume file. Upload a PDF from the resume builder. Name it Firstname_Role.pdf. Avoid a scan of a paper resume and avoid .pages files.
- Photo. A plain headshot. Optional on some screens, useful when a recruiter is scanning quickly.
Profile summary: five to eight lines. What you do, what you have shipped or studied, where you will work. Write it yourself. A paragraph copied from a job description is obvious when the interviewer asks you to explain it.
How to search and apply
- Use the search box for a role and a city: “Java developer Kochi”, “accountant Infopark”, “data analyst Trivandrum”.
- Filter by freshness. A post from last week is more useful than a post from last year that is still indexed.
- Open the company name. Prefer the company’s own careers link when the description gives one. Naukri is the advert. The employer is the company.
- Apply once. If you already applied on the company site, do not apply again on Naukri for the same requisition.
- Create two job alerts, not twenty. Example: “QA Kochi” and “Java Trivandrum”. Read them. An unread alert is not a search strategy.
Keep a sheet: company, role, date, where you applied, and the Naukri job link. When someone calls, you can match the call to the application.
How recruiter search works, in plain terms
A recruiter types skills, experience range, and city. Naukri shows profiles that match those words and that were updated recently. That is why a headline full of real skills matters, and why logging in to update a blank field does not. Update the profile when something true changes: a new skill, a new project, a new notice period. Do not refresh the page every morning and expect a new ranking trick. There is no secret button that forces HR to call.
Recruiters also post jobs and wait for applicants. Apply to those when the description fits. A database profile without applications is only half the site.
You will get calls from agencies. Ask the company name, the role, the city, and whether the role is on the company’s careers page. A caller who will not name the employer, or who asks for money to “forward the resume”, is not hiring you.
What to skip
- Paid “resume writing” or “recruiter spotlight” products, unless you understand the price and accept that they are advertising, not a job offer. The free profile is enough to apply.
- Anyone on WhatsApp who says they are Naukri and asks for a fee or an OTP.
- Multiple accounts. They split your history and can get both accounts restricted.
- A resume that does not match the profile. If the PDF says Python and the key skills say Java only, the interviewer will ask why.
After you apply
Check the email you used, including spam, for a company reply. One polite follow-up to the address printed on the job post is reasonable after a week. Do not call the Naukri support number to ask why a private company has not hired you. They do not control that decision.
Use the same facts on LinkedIn and on Naukri. Different job titles for the same month make both profiles look unreliable. When you also want a second board, read the Indeed guide.
